Dental Crowns Restore Strength & Aesthetics

When a tooth is damaged, cracked, severely decayed, or weakened (for example after a root canal), a crown can protect and restore it. A crown rebuilds both function and appearance so your smile looks natural and works well.

When You Might Need a Crown

  • Large filling where little tooth structure remains

  • Cracked or fractured teeth

  • Teeth worn down by grinding

  • Root canal-treated teeth likely to break without protection

  • Discolored or Malaligned teeth needing cosmetic correction

  • As part of bridge or implant treatment

Types of Crowns

  • All-Ceramic / Porcelain — best match for front teeth, great aesthetics.

  • Porcelain-Fused-Metal (PFM) — combines strength of metal with look of porcelain.

  • Metal / Alloy Crowns — very strong; often used in back teeth for durability.

  • Zirconia Crowns — modern, strong, good appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will getting a crown hurt?

We use local anesthesia so you should feel little to no pain during the procedure. Some sensitivity or mild discomfort afterward is normal and temporary.

If using a lab, there are usually two visits: one to prepare the tooth + impressions; another to place the permanent crown. If your clinic offers same-day crown (CAD/CAM), the whole process may complete in one visit.

Costs vary depending on the material (ceramic, zirconia, metal etc.), complexity of preparation, lab fees, and any additional treatments needed. We offer guidance beforehand so you know the expected cost.

Inform us—we’ll check fit, bite, and adjust if needed. Persistence of pain, sensitivity, or discomfort beyond a few days should be evaluated.
